Many of us may be dreaming of a white Christmas, but chances are good visions of warm, sandy beaches will be dancing in our heads soon enough, if winter winds haven’t pushed them there already.
We can’t help you with the snow, but Santa may have a late present for you when it comes to a cold weather escape.
We’re giving away three Caribbean cruise trips for two valued at about $6,000 each. It’s our way of saying thank you to the beta testers of our new Waypoint travel club.
Each of three winners and their guests will board Holland America’s aircraft carrier-sized MS Eurodam from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a seven-day journey through the Caribbean’s azure waters and with excursions at several exotic ports of call.
Each of the three cruises also sport their own music theme and depart between late February and early March.
Itineraries vary. Dates and layovers for each trip include:
- Smooth Jazz, Feb. 21-28: Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; Key West, Florida.
- 80s Cruise, Feb. 28-March 6: Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.
- Gospel Music Cruise, March 6-13: Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands; Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.
It’s easy to enter. Just tell us about some of your favorite trips you’ve taken, hideaways you’ve found, and travel deals you’ve discovered.
To get started, your first waypoint is our special MilitaryTimes.com/travelcontest sign-up page where you’ll also get registered for Military Waypoint. This exclusive travel club will be open only to current and former members of the military community and their immediate family members. As part of the registration, you’ll also get to pick which cruise you want to take.
Once on Waypoint, post as many travel tips and suggestions as you want. The deadline for entries is Dec. 25.
At Waypoint, each post is called an “idea” that you personally vouch for from your own adventures. Be sure to include at least one original photo — taken by you — with each idea you post. Ideas cane be something as simple as a favorite off base getaway to that jaw-dropping spot you found on leave.
A team of Military Times judges will select one winner for each cruise based on the three things we hope will make Waypoint the online destination for off-duty travelers: originality of the idea, quality of photo(s), and usefulness to other club members.
