A pilot was kicked out of the Navy last year for recording female officers aboard the aircraft carrier John C. Stennis, according to newly released documents, reports the KitapSun in Washington state.
The 33-year-old lieutenant was serving with Strike Fighter Squadron 192 out of Naval Air Station Lemoore, California. The squadron was conducting pilot qualifications off the coast of Southern California aboard the Stennis.
The pilot, who name was redacted in the documents, was seen using a cellphone to record through a ventilation grate outside the female officer’s showers. Following an interrogation, the lieutenant admitted to the incident, along with at least 15 other instances of recording female officers in their bathroom aboard the Stennis. The pilot’s phone and tablet were confiscated, and the recovered videos showed three more women who had been videotaped while showering or dressing.
The pilot pleaded guilty in a June 2016 court-martial to attempted indecent recording, indecent recording, and conduct unbecoming of an officer. He was sentenced to 36 months confinement, 12 of which were suspended, was dismissed from the Navy, and required to register as a sex offender.
